The 2021 Women’s Reserve Division runners-up were able to upgrade their achievements of last year by winning the 2022 title, defeating North Toronto Nitros in the final.

The starting lineup for Unionville Milliken was not too dissimilar to the team that was beaten by Vaughan Azzurri, with last year’s scorer Olivia Allen back in the side.

After a goalless start to the game, Unionville Milliken found the net just before the half-time break to take a slender 1-0 lead into the second 45 minutes. Dominique Robinson was the scorer, cutting in from the wing and driving her effort home.

Unionville Milliken lost to the Nitros during the regular season but were able to see the game out when it really mattered.

Rovers rally in first final

Simcoe County Rovers faced Scrosoppi in the Men’s U21 Reserve Final – the champions of the North Division against the champions of the Central Division. Both sides had enjoyed an unbeaten season, and neither club had been in a final before.

Andre Beecher opened the scoring for Simcoe within three minutes of the kick-off, beating the Scrosoppi goalkeeper with a looping header. The lead was doubled not long after as David Ajagbe found the bottom corner.

Scrosoppi showed a glimmer of a comeback just after the half-hour mark when Nathaniel Susnik reacted quickest to a goalkeeping mistake and slotted home into an empty net.

Simcoe then scored their third moments later through Sefunmi Taiwo, and Jace Foster finished off a great team move to make it four in the second half and make certain of the club’s first piece of silverware.

What about the Men’s U19 Reserve Division?

The regular season of the Men’s U19 Reserve Division is taking place until the end of September so there are still plenty of soccer games for fans to follow – and lots of future talent on show as well.
