On Wednesday, June 15, League1 Ontario became aware of allegations of verbal racial abuse by fan(s) directed at a Simcoe County Rovers player during its Women’s Premier Division game at Electric City Football Club.

Following an investigation into the incident by League1 Ontario, with the full cooperation of both clubs, Electric City was found guilty of failing to prevent its spectators from disrupting a game, and/or for using offensive language toward a player. Both Electric City and Simcoe Country Rovers were charged for failing to complete the fixture.

All fines collected will be donated to a charitable organization that works to end racism and discrimination in sport.

League1 Ontario strongly condemns all forms of racism and discrimination.  It has no place in our game or society.
