Eight players who formerly played in League1 Ontario have been called up for Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team ahead of their games in June.

They will be available for selection in two Concacaf Nation League fixtures – the first against Curaçao at BC Place in Vancouver and the second in San Pedro Sula to face Honduras.

The Canadian men’s team is littered with stars who helped secure qualification to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and includes eight players who featured in L1O in their development to the professional game:

Tajon Buchanan (Sigma – now Club Brugge)
Raheem Edwards (ANB Futbol – now LA Galaxy)
Alistair Johnston (Vaughan Azzurri – now CF Montréal)
Mark-Anthony Kaye (Toronto FC III – now Colorado Rapids)
Cyle Larin (Sigma – now Beşiktaş)
Richie Laryea (Sigma – now Nottingham Forest)
Kamal Miller (Vaughan Azzurri – now CF Montréal)
Dayne St. Clair (Vaughan Azzurri – now Minnesota United)

As well as Larin, fellow Simcoe County Rovers co-owners Doneil Henry (LA Galaxy) and Atiba Hutchinson (Beşiktaş) have also been selected to represent the Canadian national team.
