We’re all set for a busy weekend in L1O – here’s what you need to know.

Wolf den

St Catharines Roma Wolves have waited a long time for the home opener. Their men’s team welcome Woodbridge Strikers who have won two and lost two so far this season and sit a point above their hosts.

Meanwhile two teams that were involved in midweek, Unionville Milliken and Scrosoppi, will face each other looking to quickly forget about their respective defeats last time out.

Darby and North Mississauga are the other two teams in action in the Men’s Premier Division, as the latter’s women’s team also takes to the field against NDC Ontario – one of the few teams that has remained unbeaten so far this season.

Perfect performers

FC London are the only team in the division with a 100 per cent record after five games and they will aim to increase their winning streak in the Women’s Premier Division on Saturday when they welcome ProStars

Vaughan Azzurri currently sit two points behind the league leaders after they shared the spoils with NDC Ontario in their last game. They head to Centennial College to face Alliance United.

Looking to rediscover their prolific form at the start of the season, BVB IA Waterloo take on Hamilton United. The team in yellow scored nine without conceding to collect maximum points from their opening three games, but have only managed a tie and two losses in the games since then.

Hamilton United meanwhile will be looking to capitalize on Waterloo’s drop in results as they search for their first win since the opening day of the season.

Kicking on

Seven matches will be played across Saturday and Sunday in the Men’s Premier Division, beginning with Electric City hosting ProStars. The visitors are yet to win on the road – can they do it at Fleming College?

The league’s top-scoring side Alliance United welcome Sigma, and FC London face Burlington and BVB IA Waterloo take on Windsor TFC in two games at the lower end of the table.

Sunday sees Pickering – who have won two on the bounce after a slow start to the season – entertain Hamilton United, and table-toppers North Toronto Nitros visit an unbeaten Blue Devils side looking to add to their two wins and three ties with another result this weekend.

Finally in the men’s league, Vaughan Azzurri and Simcoe County Rovers will go head-to-head in a fixture that will not be short of excitement. Both teams have accumulated 10 points and sit second and third in the table respectively.

Rising up the table

It’s a second home double header in consecutive weekends for Pickering as they entertain St Catharines Roma Wolves in the Women’s Premier Division. Both Pickering teams won at Kinsmen Field last week and the women’s team will aim to set the standard for the men this Sunday who kick off three hours later.

North Toronto Nitros face Tecumseh after beating Electric City on the road on Wednesday, and their visitors will start this one with fresh legs having not played since tying with Alliance United last Saturday.

Blue Devils visit Burlington at the foot of the table and reigning champions Woodbridge Strikers host Darby in a mid-table clash.

Simcoe County Rovers will look to improve to 5-0-0 when they take on Unionville Milliken to round off the weekend’s Women’s Premier Division action, before the league returns with five games on Wednesday.

Streams

Electric City and Guelph Union will do battle on Sunday in an interesting sixth versus seventh affair in the Women’s Premier Division on L1O TV – the League1 Ontario YouTube channel.

The Men’s Premier Division game of the week is tonight’s fixture between Scrosoppi and Unionville Milliken.
