With some teams either hosting or hitting the road for the first time this season, this weekend could throw the current form guides out of the window.

The weekend is almost here and you know what that means – another feast of League1 Ontario action.

Even stevens

The weekend kicks off on Friday night between ProStars and North Mississauga in the Men’s Premier Division. Both teams have equal records going into this game with two wins and a loss.

ProStars will be buoyed after they scored three second half goals to overturn a two-goal deficit against Guelph United last weekend, but they face a North Mississauga team that also acquired three points last time out by edging past FC London.

FC London and Sigma men’s teams also have the same record so far this season but occupy the opposite end of the table, and they meet each other on Saturday both looking for their first wins this year.

It will be interesting to see how Darby fair on the road after they gained points from all three of their opening Men’s Premier Division games at home this season and currently sit third in the standings. They visit Simcoe County Rovers who have won, tied, and lost in their first three matches, and this week signed goalkeeper Ricky Gomes, formerly on the books of Atlético Ottawa.

Alliance United and Hamilton United will lock horns in the Men’s Premier Division on Saturday, Electric City hit the road against Unionville Milliken who are at home for the fourth game in a row, and BVB IA Waterloo visit Master’s FA.

Men's Premier Division fixtures

Home sweet home

Looking to follow up the men’s team with their record-breaking home opener, Electric City’s women will make their Premier Division debut at Fleming College this weekend against Blue Devils.

The 2022 newcomers had won two on the bounce before losing to Darby last time out, meanwhile last year’s Championship runners-up are looking for their first three-point haul of the season.

Simcoe County Rovers’ women are also at home hosting a North Toronto Nitros side that has yet to play on the road this season, and North Mississauga welcome Darby after putting six past Hamilton United at Churchill Meadows on Monday.

Sunday double headers

Vaughan Azzurri will be looking for maximum points for the fifth time in a row in the Women’s Premier Division on Sunday when they host NDC Ontario.

The Azzurri are also at the top end of the Men’s Premier Division and are in action on the same day, hosting the Blue Devils at North Maple Regional Park. The visitors also haven’t lost this season with two ties and a win.

Women's Premier Division fixtures

Woodbridge Strikers and Pickering both have double headers on home soil penned into the schedule this Sunday. The Strikers men will face Guelph United who return to L1O action after their midweek Canadian Championship fixture, meanwhile the women host a St Catharines Roma Wolves side on 3-0-0.

Pickering on the other hand will be aiming for their first three points in the men’s league as they entertain Scrosoppi, after the women’s team do battle against Burlington.

The other games on Sunday include fourth-placed BVB IA Waterloo against eighth-placed Guelph Union in the Women’s Premier Division as well as Unionville Milliken against ProStars. Burlington and Windsor TFC are in action on the men’s side.

Streams

This week’s featured game in the Men’s Premier Division is St Catharines Roma Wolves against North Toronto Nitros, live from Tim Hortons Field on L1O TV on YouTube.

The Roma Wolves have four points from their opening three games and a second win would help shoot them up the table towards their opponents – the Nitros are currently lying in second with a perfect record so far this season.

The Women’s Premier Division match of the week is Hamilton United against FC London on Saturday. The hosts return to Ron Joyce Stadium after two consecutive away games to entertain an FC London team looking for their fourth win on the bounce.
