It has the makings of a soccer version of David meets Goliath Tuesday when Guelph United FC meets Halifax HFX Wanders at Alumni Stadium.
One year ago, Guelph United FC had never kicked a ball in anger in League1 Ontario. On Tuesday night, just under 10 months since their maiden voyage, they’ll represent the league — as its champions, no less — in the Canadian Championship, playing host to CPL opposition in HFX Wanderers FC.
Toronto Star: Electric City FC men win home opener in Peterborough
Electric City FC sent a charge through League1 Ontario Saturday night. In their first-ever home match ECFC smashed the league attendance record with a crowd of 1,565, many decked out in the club's black and yellow colours, at the Fleming Sports Complex. The previous attendance mark was 1,250 which commissioner Dino Rossi said is the sellout they get each year at the Ontario Soccer Centre for their league final.
Toronto FC: Toronto FC II sign goalkeeper Baj Maan
Toronto FC II announced today that the club has signed goalkeeper Baj Maan to an MLS NEXT Pro contract. Maan will be added to the club’s roster pending league and federation approval.
