Three more matches and one less than goal than last week’s league play, Matchweek 4 produced 131 goals in 36 matches across the six League1 Ontario Divisions.

From the Premier Division to the Reserves, here’s how it all played out on both the Men’s and Women’s side of the competition:

Women’s Premier Division Matchweek 4:

Women’s Premier Division action got underway Friday night at Redeemer College as hosts Hamilton United beat Vaughan Azzurri 4-1. Miranda Badovinac scored the first three goals of the match before her Hamilton teammate Mia Rodgers added a fourth. Vaughan would ruin the clean sheet with less than 10 minutes remaining through Kiyani Johnson but United keeper Marilena Spagnolo was strong in goal all evening in the win.

Another five-goal thriller in the division happened the following day, this time at St. Thomas Aquinas Turf between Oakville Blue Devils and visiting FC London, where London came out on top 3-2 on Saturday. Just two different players found the back of the net in this one as Jade Kovacevic scored all three for the away team while Laura Twidle added a brace for the Blue Devils.

The third and final fixture of the weekend in the Premier Division came at Downsview Field as Tecumseh SC topped North Toronto Nitros 2-1 on the road on Saturday. Jade Samping and Keele Briand put Tecumseh up by two in the opening half and while Amelia Salewics would cut their advantage in half, that was as close as the Nitros would come to mounting a comeback.

Men’s Premier Division Matchweek 4:

Vaughan Azzurri stayed perfect through three matches played as they took down Darby FC 2-0 Friday evening in the opening contest of the weekend in the Men’s Premier Division. Raheem Rose and Christian Zeppieri got the goals for the Azzurri while keeper Anthony Gurrieri kept the clean sheet.

FC London leapfrogged Sigma FC in the Men’s West Division table on Saturday with the 3-2 win at Paramount Turf. Benjamin Vyfschaft, Ethan Gopaul and Tomas Witt got on the board for London, Vyfschaft’s strike a brilliant solo run from his own half. Sigma’s two scorers were Faisal Ghaffur and Jason Squeo.

Goals were coming fast and furious Saturday at Alumni Stadium as Guelph United improved to 4-0 and maintained their top spot in the Men’s West Division with a thrilling 5-4 win over ProStars Brampton FC. Alexander Zis and Tomasz Skublak both picked up braces and Jace Kostopolous added another for Guelph while ProStars’ Jevontae Layne picked up a hat trick for the visitors and Wesley Alcantara picked up a lone tally as well.

East Division-leading Unionville Milliken SC stayed in first in the table with a 2-0 win over Woodbridge SC at Bill Crothers Turf on Saturday. Jacob Begley and Matthias Broomes provided the offence for Unionville and goalkeeper Aubrey Lowed earned the shutout at the other end.

Adel Rahman and Estevan Carles scored for 1812 FC as they picked up their second win of the season in a 2-1 victory against North Toronto SC at Downsview Turf on Saturday. Dino Custovic equalized for the Nitros after Rahman opened the scoring early and despite 1812 going down to 10 men, Carles snatched all three points for his side in the 90th minute.

Oakville Blue Devils FC also stayed undefeated this weekend as they beat Scrosoppi FC 2-1 on Sunday at St. Thomas Aquinas Turf. Leaford Allen opened the scoring for the Blue Devils goals and after Camarri Johnson replied for Scrosoppi, Allen added a second to see his team improve to 3-0-1 through four games played.

In the only draw of the weekend, Windsor TFC and North Mississauga SC played to a 1-1 tie Sunday at Libro Centre. Christopher Simm scored inside the opening quarter of an hour for NMSC before Mulder Tyrone got one back for Windsor to ensure the points were shared in this one.
