Toronto, ON (March 20, 2020) – On behalf of League1 Ontario, the Board of Directors have released the following statement:

"The League1 Ontario Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to postpone the start of the 2020 season, scheduled to start April 24, 2020.

"We have made this decision in light of recent developments with COVID-19, in support of the announcement by Canada Soccer on March 13th banning all sanctioned soccer activities in Canada, and the directive by our respective governments and health officials to ban all public gatherings.

"We will continue to work with all of those authorities in order to make a decision on when to begin our 2020 season when it is declared safe by the relevant health and government agencies, including our governing bodies – Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer.

"Our number one priority is to protect the well-being of our players, officials, coaches, employees and the general public.

"We will continue to monitor closely all input from our government agencies and medical experts and as more information becomes available, we will provide further updates to our League1 Ontario soccer community and the general public, accordingly."

Sincerely,
Eva Havaris – League1 Ontario Board Member
Dino Rossi – Commissioner, Men’s Division, League1 Ontario
Carmelina Moscato – Commissioner, Women’s Division, League1 Ontario
Johnny Misley – League1 Ontario Board Member
