Watson and Santos were on target to give Woodbridge SC the 2-1 win over North Mississauga and further tighten up the base of the eight team qualifying zone just a few weeks before playoffs.

Meanwhile, Windsor TFC found their second win in two weeks - and their first home victory - thanks to the Da Silva strike that was enough to down Durham United FA and claim the three points.

Clinical Woodbridge took their chances and got a crucial 2-1 win over North Mississauga on Friday night in a battle with important implications for the League1 Ontario playoffs.

Goals from Woodbridge captain Kyle Watson (18') and team-mate Mathew Santos (72' pk) ensured the win at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, Mississauga, while the hosts' only goal came from Adel Rahman (50').

The game started with both sides in attack mode, and there were a total of eight corners before the 20th minute, four apiece. On one of those corner kicks, defender Watson rose the highest, heading the ball in to give the Woodbridge Strikers the lead, which they would hold on to until the interval.

North Mississauga returned from the break with some energy, and it quickly paid off.

Adel Rahman showed great individual class and made a good finish to score the equalizer for the hosts. The game had to be delayed for 50 minutes at the 70th due to lightning, but there was still time for a turnaround after the teams went back on the pitch.

Only two minutes after the restart, Lucas Puntillo was fouled in the box and Santos made no mistake from the spot.

At the final whistle, the stats department showed ten shots for North Mississauga, exactly the double the amount Woodbridge attempted, but the visitors took their chances better and got all three points.

The win meant Woodbridge cut the deficit with North Mississauga to one point and remained in the playoffs race with three matches left.

Woodbridge Strikers will next play OSU Force on July 28 (5 p.m.) at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge.

North Mississauga will next play Darby FC on July 26 (8 p.m.) at Whitby Soccer Centre, Whitby.

Windsor TFC got their first home win after a result on Friday night over visitors' Durham United FA.

They defeated Durham United 1-0 with goal scorer Leonardo Fereirra DaSilva (16’) finding the lone tally, and a clean sheet from Kaneen Fells.

Windsor TFC struggled at the very beginning of the game. Durham United nearly scored due to a couple of defensive errors by Windsor TFC. Although the errors occurred in the first minutes, it proved to be the strongest chance that Durham would have all game.

Windsor TFC soon found a few other chances and a goal arrived. An incisive through-ball went straight to DaSilva (16'), who was able to drive the ball low and past the keeper.

Durham United's defence, just a few minutes later, made some amazing blocks which stopped Windsor TFC from scoring a second goal. Durham also had many more chances with seven corner kicks in the first half alone, but were unsuccessful.

There was an hour delay of the game only after 30 minutes of the play because of lightning.

After the delay, Windsor had a few more chances but the Durham goalkeeper was able to keep the ball out of the net.

During the second half, most of the chances for goals came from Windsor TFC. Tyrone Mulder almost scored a breakaway goal after a beautiful cross from Jonathan Agapito, however, he kicked it high over the net.

Both teams tried hard to score another goal in the game but the score remained the same 1-0 for Windsor TFC at the final whistle.

The key player for Durham United was Barrington Smith, who created the most dangerous plays for Durham. The key player for Windsor TFC was DaSilva, who got the goal for his team.

Windsor TFC will next play FC London at the German-Canadian Club, London on July 26 (8 p.m.).

Durham United will next play Sigma FC at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre on July 27 (4 p.m.)
