Darby FC came from behind to snatch a crucial 2-1 win at DeRo United in the League1 Ontario women’s game at L'Amoreaux on Saturday.

The stakes were high in a game that pitched the seventh and the eighth team in the standings starting the weekend against one another.

Two extraordinary goals from Amanda Kraft (36') and Kyra Barton (60') ultimately made sure Darby had the edge on the road to the playoffs.

The hosts started the game well and had more of the possession, creating some early chances. It paid off as Olivia Bizzoni sent a through ball to Chantelle Parker (21'), who dribbled to the box from the left before making a cool finish on the opposite bottom corner.

However, Darby found their rhythm after around the half-hour mark, pressing high up the pitch to disrupt DeRo's possession play. It came to fruition as they forced a corner after a successful pressing move.

Kraft took the corner and it ended up as a goal, the midfielder proving that hard, in-swinging, hard corners on goal are not coincidence.

She later managed to get another shot on target from the corner, with two minutes left in the first half. Goalkeeper Nicole Parakevopoulos was alert the second time, punching it away.

However, the DeRo goalie could not prevent Darby's second on the hour mark.

Kyra Barton made a cross from the right, the ball was directed on goal, and although Parakevopoulos got a hand on it, the ball ended up in the net.

The result meant Darby rose to fifth with 18 points, while DeRo remained eighth with 14 - good enough for the final playoff spot ahead of several other Matchweek 11 fixtures.

Darby will next play Unionville Milliken SC on July 19 (8 p.m.) at Clarington Field, Oshawa.

DeRo United will next play OSU Force on July 20 (1:30 p.m.) at Quinn's Pointe, Ottawa.

Hamilton United were beaten 3-2 at home against Ottawa South United in an entertaining game at Sherwood Park in Hamilton on Saturday.

Davies (21') and Hebert (57') scored for the home side, while Amano (11'), Beaudoin (33') and Chadwick (46') got on the scoresheet for the away side.

Hamilton United started the game brightly, creating a couple of good chances within the first ten minutes, only to be denied by Gabrielle Emilien and her goal post. OSU on the other side made the most out of their chances.

First Amano found the opposition’s net with a wonderful long range effort and gave the lead to OSU against the run of play. Ten minutes later, moments after a good passage of play by Hamilton had led to a good save by the OSU goalkeeper, Davies managed to eventually find the net on the very next wave of Hamilton United attack.

This end-to-end game was far from over, as Rossi, the Hamilton United goalkeeper was forced to make a save, however, Beaudoin reacted quickly to the rebounded shot to make it 2-1 to OSU.

Chadwick then went on to double the lead for OSU at the end of first half, a goal that proved to be critical at the end of the game.

The second half certainly had fewer goals, but there was no shortage of excitement in this half either. In the 55th minute, Emilien pulled a very good save from the Hamilton United striker to protect her team's two-goal lead. However, two minutes later, a good run and through ball from the right-hand side saw Hebert through, giving her the chance to make it 2-3 with a delightful chip shot over the goalie's head.

Everybody in Sherwood Park thought it was 3-3 as Davies had a clear cut chance in the 66th minute, but the OSU star in goal made yet another wonderful save, denying Hamilton United the all-important equalizer.

With this result, Hamilton United Elite sit at 12th on the table on 10 points - with only an outside chance of catching a playoff spot - while OSU finish out Matchweek 11 in fifth position with 19 points.

Hamilton United Elite will next play Durham United FA at Ron Joyce Stadium, Hamilton on July 19 (8 p.m.).

OSU will next play DeRo United FC at Quinn's Pointe, Ottawa on July 20 (1:30 p.m.).
