Vaughan Azzurri walked away with a 10-0 victory at home versus the visiting North Mississauga Panthers to temporarily return to the top of L1O women's standings.

Leah Pais would have the first chance of the match when Vaughan would combine nicely to send Pais one-on-one with the North Mississauga keeper, Meaghan Howell, forcing her into her first save of the match.

Pais (6') opened the scoring minutes later when she met Christina Morelli's cross to head it past Howell. Vaughan would increase their lead when Colleen Beesley (24') got on the end of Yoanna Peralta's cross to tap it into the open goal.

Just two minutes later, Peralta (26') would get one of her own, sliding it under Howell to make it 3-0. Jessie Faber (30') would grab her first of two on the night when she beat her marker down the left flank and curved her effort to the far post past Howell to make it 4-0.

Pais (35') would grab her second after being sprung through on goal just past the halfway line, out-pacing her defender and beating Howell to make it 5-0 going in to the half.

Vaughan started the second half similar to the first and would not take their foot off the pedal when Faber (50') grabbed her second to make it 6-0 after Claudia Piazza played a lovely through ball, splitting the North Mississauga back line. Faber would make no mistake.

Pais (53'), Beesley (60'); substitutes Sami Falkenstein (73') and Kiyani Johnson (75') would round out the scoring to secure the 10-0 victory for the home side.

Vaughan Azzurri will next play Durham United FA at Kinsmen Park Large Turf, Pickering on June 29 (2 p.m.).

North Mississauga will next play Alliance United FC at Mount Joy Turf, Markham on June 29 (2 p.m.).

Oakville Blue Devils remained top of the table after a 6-1 win over DeRo United thanks to four goals from Mahira Ali at Sheridan College.

The first half saw a number of chances for Oakville but DeRo United goalkeeper Alyse Patinios made a number of key saves to keep the scoreline level for most of the half.

The breakthrough finally came when Ali (36') struck a beautiful shot from over 25 yards out and the ball flew over the goalkeeper and into the net.

The second half saw Oakville completely take over and they scored their second when Laura Twidle (50') made the most of a defensive mix-up and slotted the ball home.

Ali (55', 60') scored again and then completed her hat-trick after some lovely footwork in the opposition's box. Two penalty kicks in two minutes - Twidle (78'), Ali (80') - rounded out the goals for Oakville on a beautiful day at Sheridan College.

The only response from DeRo United came when Olivia Bizzoni (89') found the ball in midfield and fired an absolute laser from thirty yards out that beat Rachel Yerxa in the Oakville goal.

Oakville Blue Devils will next play Hamilton United Elite at Ron Joyce Stadium, Hamilton on June 28 (8 p.m.).

DeRo United will next play Woodbridge Strikers at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge on June 26 (8:15 p.m.)
