After a long battle, the visiting Alliance United FC took home the win with a score of 1-0 to stay on top of the League1 Ontario men’s division.

Both teams made great passes and penetrating balls throughout the match, but neither were able to finish their chances.

Key players for both sides were their goalkeepers. Darby’s Matt Zaikos and Alliance’s Praveen Ahilan stood tall and kept their team’s in the match.

The match, however, came down to a penalty shot for Alliance in the 80th minute, following a tackle inside the Darby box.

Alliance centre-back Nikola Stakic stepped up and placed a nicely timed shot into the top right corner scoring the only goal of the game.

Darby FC will play again on Friday May 31, at 8 p.m against Durham United FA. The game will take place at Kinsmen Park Football Field, Pickering.

Alliance FC will have their next game on Saturday June 1, against ProStars FC at 7 p.m. The game will be held at Victoria Park, Brampton.

Aurora FC seemed to be in absolute control before Sigma FC stormed back to steal a point away and push for a 3-3 draw at Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

The first half was balanced and played more in the middle third of the field with very few chances created.

Aurora did get the ball in the back of the net with their first shot on target.

Filipe Vilela (15') found a long ball and outran two defenders and lobbed a shot over the onrushing keeper Oluwarimidalare Olatunji.

Sigma FC would answer back at the half-hour mark, thanks to striker Leaford Allen's (30') rocket from outside the box to bounce off the underside of the crossbar and go in after hitting the keeper Nicholas Frenati's body.

Both sides were levelled for only 10 minutes when Aurora restored their lead with their second shot on target.

Johnson Amoo (40') sent the ball into the bottom left corner with a low strike from the edge of the box.

Aurora extended their lead through a Joseph Vitulli (48') screamer from 25 yards into the top left corner giving the Sigma keeper no chance.

Throughout the match, the hosts, Sigma, struggled to escape the closed down spaces of their opponents' backline and made costly mistakes in the middle of the pitch.

However, with reinforcements coming in late in the match, Sigma began their comeback.

Sigma's Tyriq Armstrong (86') shortened Aurora's lead as he found a low cross from the left side and guided it in for his second of the year.

Thereafter, in the first minute of four minutes of stoppage time, a powerful shot from outside of the box rattled the Aurora post and found Allen (90 +1') who tapped the loose ball in to register the first stalemate of the season for both sides.

Sigma FC will host OSU Force on June 1, at 4 p.m. The match will be played at Paramount Fine Foods Centre 1, Mississauga.

Aurora FC will host North Mississauga SC on June 1 4 p.m. The match will be played at Stewart Burnett Park, Aurora.
