FC London earned their first victory of the 2019 season, thanks to the leadership of League1 Ontario all-time leading goal scorer Jade Kovacevic (29’,50’,90’)

Rejoining her team for the first time last week after spending the last few months with Italian Serie B side Roma CF, Kovacevic is already back to what she does best, scoring.

Her first goal came in the 29th minute, where she stepped up to the penalty mark and comfortably converted her first of the match.

After grabbing her second goal in the 50th minute, Kovacevic saved the best for last with a terrifically placed finish right before the final whistle to secure her team's first victory of the campaign.

Although FC London came out victorious, the home side Darby FC got on the scoreboard first thanks to Tori Chia (9’) shot on net that was mishandled by the London keeper and trickled in for a goal.

Darby FC took the lead back before the half when Lauryn Arruda (45’) let go a thunderous strike from distance for her third goal of the season.

Despite the loss, Darby’s backline of Alexis Wilson and Olivia Cooke defended well and came out big in the first half to hardly allow any real threat on goal.

Darby FC will take on Alliance United FC at Mount Joy Field on Sunday, May 26 in hopes of earning their first victory of 2019.

FC London will make the trek to Ottawa to take on league leaders OSU Force on Saturday, May 25 at Quinns Point
