Connor Wilson picked up where he left off last year, with a game-winning strike for FC London the difference over hosts, Durham United FA.

Aurora FC showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2019 men's division as well, taking down Woodbridge Strikers for their second win of the season thanks to a two goal night for Aziah Reid.

FC London defeated home team, Durham United (DUFA), 2-1 to clinch London's first win of the season, at the cost of DUFA's second consecutive loss of the season.

Ethan Gopaul (7') opened up the scoring early for FC London with a strike from just outside the box. Despite the early lead DUFA controlled most of the first half, with the coaching staff putting a clear emphasis on possession of the ball.

A thrilling second half began with FC London's Wilson (54') missing a wide-open goal, but fortunately for him and his team he would finish the very next play, capitalizing on a goalkeeping mistake to extend the lead to 2-0.

DUFA applied relentless pressure after the second goal and after a few saves from London keeper, Sokalski, DUFA would finally get on the score-sheet with a thunderous strike from outside the box by Salmon (70').

An exhilarating last ten minutes of the match included an 85th minute red card for FC London defender, Maletic, after two rough fouls in succession.

FC London Keeper Sokalski secured the three points for his team with a spectacular save in the 87th minute.

Durham United will next play Unionville Milliken at Pickering Soccer Centre, Pickering on May 17 (8 p.m.).

FC London will next play North Mississauga SC at German Canadian Club, London on May 18 (7 p.m.).

Aurora FC has certainly started off on the right foot in 2019 by winning their first two games of the season; Saturday's victory arriving primarily from the foot of their striker Aziah Reid (43', 61'), who managed to score both goals for Aurora.

Aurora's Reid (43') managed to break the deadlock with a first-time finish to the right of the Woodbridge goalkeeper Williams, just before the half.

The second half of the match saw more action as Woodbridge began to push harder for that equalizing goal and Aurora pushed back just as hard. It was a battle evident by the many bookings that occurred: Aurora saw five cautions, while Woodbridge saw four cautions and a sending off for violent conduct.

Aurora’s Reid (61') managed to double the Aurora lead after the ball was played across the penalty area and he smashed it into the back of the net. But, not too long after the second Aurora goal, Woodbridge's Santos (70' pk) managed to cut the lead in half and give the visitors some hope.

Aurora is now in a three-way tie for first place with Alliance FC and Oakville Blue Devils.

Aurora FC will next play Oakville Blue Devils at Sheridan Trafalgar Campus, Oakville on May 19 (4 p.m.).

Woodbridge will next play Toronto Skillz at Birchmount Stadium, Toronto on May 18 (2 p.m.)
