Durham United FA's Joe Zupo (15') and Dylan Campbell (65') struck at opposite ends of the match for the hosts over North Toronto Nitros, beating the visitors 2-1 in spite of a Mirza Custovic (27') strike just before the half-hour.

"Our defence played great today and it is three or four games in a row now where they have been outstanding," said Durham team official, Desmond Warner.

"And this game was a challenge because we haven't beat North Toronto in probably two years. They've had our number and so it was good to get a result tonight. They always play well, fight hard and are a well-coached and disciplined team, so it was a good result tonight for us."

Durham and North Toronto have tended to match up well in the past, with matches between the east division rivals coming down to few moments of error or brilliance to decide the contest. North Toronto Nitros head coach Hermann Kingue suggested this result was determined by an error.

"I'm not going to play down the fact that Durham won the game - they did so and they deserved it - but it is just unfortunate that we gave them the second goal," he said.

"It was bad positioning of the last defender and once we gave them that goal - that was it. That was the turning point of the game. We did have a couple of chances but... that's fine."

Durham United FA will next play Masters FA Saints on October 7 at L'Amoreaux, Scarborough.

North Toronto Nitros will next play OSU Force on October 7 at Terry Fox South, Ottawa.
