Tajani Fairclough (16') opened the scoring for Sanjaxx Lions on the road against Windsor TFC Stars, but it took late goals from Fabio Vilaca (89') and Israel Perrin (90') to ensure a tight 3-2 victory over the young Stars.

"It was a good game," said Sanjaxx team official Kemar Rowe.

"We are so lucky to come back with a victory though, to be honest. Under pressure we kept our shape and it just helped us come out with the victory. The second half we came out lagging and gave up an early goal. We just fought back and found the win."

Chad White (27') and Paul Di Mio (57') scored within a half hour to give the Stars a 2-1 lead heading into the final third of the match, but the home side couldn't hold on for the result.

"Sanjaxx didn't get out of their half more than two or three times in the second half but the difference was that when they did, they put their chances away," said Windsor head coach, Zibby Piatkiewicz. "We didn't do that, we hit the post, hit the crossbar. We created chances but just couldn't put them away."

"Experience for these young kids is our goal right now. They are seventeen years old and we want them to gain experience. It is not about winning right now. You still play the game to win but the thing is experience, that is what we are looking for next year."

"Paul Di Mio stood out today, the player that scored the goal to go ahead 2-1," he added.

"Our back four are all seventeen years old and they did quite well also. I'm not okay with the score, but I am with the performance."

Windsor TFC Stars will next play Pro Stars FC on September 2 at Avondale Stadium, Brampton.

Sanjaxx Lions will next play Sigma FC on September 23 at Hershey Centre Indoor, Mississauga.
