Woodbridge Strikers put on a finishing masterclass at Whitby Soccer Centre on Friday night, blowing away Darby FC 8-3 after putting away virtually every chance.

"For Woodbridge, the big difference today was their clinical finishing every time they were in the box," said Darby head coach, Mirco Schroff.

"They probably had eight to ten chances in the game with eight goals resulting out of that so it was exceptional finishing and that was certainly recognized by us and the players."

Ukraine U18 player Nicole Kozlova (4', 47', 76', 79') scored four, while Hungarian international Katalin Tolnai (30', 58') had a brace. Rebecca Oliveira (35') added a single, as did former Canada WNT player, Alyscha Mottershead (65').

"I just think we worked hard and finished our chances," said Woodbridge head coach, Dave Porco. "It's a tough field to play on, the ball was bouncing and stuff, but we managed to put together enough passes to score goals."

Despite the one-sided scoreline, the match was quite tightly fought in the midfield and in the second half Darby began to find the final ball that had eluded them throughout the first half. Giulia Giovinazzi (49', 60') score a brace, while Sierra Bulger (82') added a single late in the contest, but it was too little too late for the home side.

"The second half it came together a bit better, because we discussed at half-time about being patient about the build-up, finding penetration and making sure the runs matched the pace of the ball," said Schroff.

"We wanted to make sure we were better at connecting with each other. That's how we scored the two goals in the second half. That was a positive step forward."
