Laura Twidle (19') and Jaiden Morgan (31') were on target for the women's division leaders North Mississauga Panthers, while keeper Vanessa Fiore kept a clean sheet, guiding the Panthers to a 2-0 win over visitors Aurora FC.

"It went well," said North Mississauga assistant coach, Trevor Bertrand.

"First half was good, second half we tried to get the younger players in the game to get them further experience. What we are trying to do is blend the seniors with the youth to see how we can stabilize it and it is paying off."

Both sets of coaches singled out players for MVP mention.

"Laura Twidle, obviously," said Bertrand.

"Worked relentlessly, created a lot of opportunities. We are working and trying to maintain first place. We know who is chasing us and we are aware we may have this team for the last game, so we are preparing for that."

"Regular standouts were our centre-back, Sarah Reynolds, and from the young girls it was Ellie [Hayes], Laura [Marrelli]," said Aurora FC team official, John Yacou.

"And Quinn [Josiah] is a fantastic keeper with a great future ahead of her," he added.

"She is involved I think with the Ontario team so she is in the right path and she brought a lot in the second half. The back-line looked a lot more comfortable with Quinn behind."

Both teams have tough matches in the near future, with North Miss attempting to defend their table-top position and Aurora hitting the road.

"Next game is on the 25th, so we will give everyone the week off and be ready next week for Woodbridge," said Bertrand.

"Looking at their last four or five games we realize they have given up over twenty something goals but we are not taking that for anything. We will be ready for them."

"We know we have a tough one on the weekend against London, so we will put this behind us and regroup and go to London with the hopes of getting a better result than tonight," said Yacou.

North Mississauga SC will next play Woodbridge Strikers on August 25 at Hershey Centre, Mississauga.

Aurora FC will next play FC London on August 19 at German Canadian Club, London.
