North Mississauga SC toppled long-running leaders of the women's division, Unionville Milliken SC, on Matchweek 14 in emphatic fashion, getting a brace from prolific goal-scorer Cassandra Briscoe (47', 90'), singles from Jenny Wolever (71') and Laura Twidle (72'), and yet another clean sheet from Vanessa Fiore.

"This is all a team effort," said North Miss head coach, Jhon Ardila.

"We thank our club at North Mississauga and the efforts of the players. It's a team and that is what is getting us to where we are currently. We are very happy for the performance of the girls today,"

"I think that was a reflection today of our training during the week. I think we have strong and committed players in the team and at the same time we have some new players coming to give us a hand for the rest of the season."

"We're happy and let's celebrate!" he exclaimed. "Being in first is in a good reason."

With an astonishing twelve goals in only four matches, North Miss striker Briscoe has leapt up the goalscoring charts to second position on 13 goals - only three behind FC London's Jade Kovacevic.

"Cassandra is very professional and she deserves it," said Ardila. "She deserved it today and she has been working hard over these past few weeks to bring her to the top."

"Their number nine is a very, very good player, definitely low to the ground striker and very technical," said Unionville assistant coach, Glenn Faulknor.

"She is very clinical in front of net. We saw it, she had her chance and buried it. A very good player."

Unionville Milliken had held first position in the 2017 League1 Ontario women's table since Matchweek 1, getting six wins on the trot in the team's first season in the league.

However, the team has only won one game of their last six fixtures and is in danger of free-fall. The result put North Mississauga in first position, and allowed Vaughan Azzurri to draw level on points with Unionville in second position.

"Moving forward we definitely have to address some issues, especially in the final third," added Faulknor.

"We need to see if we can do what we have to in order to represent UMSC in the proper way for the rest of the year. It's going to be a challenge but we can do it."

North Mississauga SC will next play Durham United FA on August 9 at Kinsmen Park Turf.

Unionville Milliken SC will next play Toronto Azzurri Blizzard on August 12 at Bill Crothers Turf, Unionville.
