Vaughan Azzurri's Claudia Piazza (24') and Colleen Beesley (27') tucked away two finishes within two minutes while Taylor Grant kept the clean sheet and secured the Azzurri a 2-0 win over West Ottawa SC.

"It's ironic that our B group are getting used to playing together and the pace of the game was good," said Vaughan head coach, Carmine Isacco.

"We got on the front foot from the beginning and found options. Our movement off the ball was good and we were a good team today. We defended their big striker and their movement off the ball as well. We took care of the midfield penetration from them. I thought we were good with and without the ball, it was a complete effort."

On the other hand, West Ottawa head coach Kristina Kiss struggled to find positives in the performance, aside from some individual performances and some well-worked set-pieces that narrowly missed the mark.

"We had a couple call-ups today, and our left-wing Lisa Hartill did very well," she said. "She came on in the second half and made a difference on that side. Other than that we thought we had a poor performance today."

"We had a few extra players at training this week so our keeper coach Andrei [Badescu] drew up some nice plays for us. We came close but we were missing that desire inside the box to put it in the net."

Vaughan Azzurri will next play Sanjaxx Lions on July 29 at Monarch Park, Toronto.

West Ottawa SC will next play Durham United FA on July 28 at Kinsmen Park, Pickering.
