After an early opener for FC London's Claire Larose (19') and a closely matched first hour to the contest, Jade Kovacevic (62') and Julia Benati (81') took the game by the neck with two goals to seal a 3-0 win for the visitors over Sanjaxx Lions.

"It's unfortunate because they got a goal in the first half and we could have equalized when there was five minutes left in the half," said Sanjaxx coach, Devon Porter.

"We didn't take our chances."

"But second half started and we came out lively," he added.

"We hit the crossbar and the keeper pushed it back into the middle of play, all my player had to do was head it back into the net. We didn't do the simple things in that game and if you don't do the simple things in this game, it comes back to haunt you."

FC London keeper Emily Gillet claimed a clean sheet and head coach Mike Marcoccia was happy with the outcome, if not the manner necessarily in which it was achieved.

"I'm extremely happy with today's result," he said. "It was important for us because we didn't play that well today."

"I spoke with the girls at half-time and I spoke very honestly that I thought our execution wasn't very good. Tactically I thought we were okay, but as I said to the girls when you're not playing well if you're able to get the result that's the sign of a team that's in good form. They did that today."

Marcoccia was particularly pleased with the play of his central midfield pairing of Denise Fortin and goalscorer Julia Benatti.

We had several players that played very well," he said.

"For the third game in a row, Denise Fortin - one of our captains and senior players - had another stellar performance. Today I thought there were three or four players that were on her level, but she has done this consistently for the past three or four games. That being said, her counterpart Julia in the middle was as good as ever as well."

London return home in Matchweek 11 and welcome guests Darby FC to the German Canadian Club in London.

"We have a game next Saturday at home and especially as we have been on the road for the last while, we are looking to play at home."

"We have a busy week of training though and obviously I think when we look at the video, although we got the result, there will be a lot to correct, look at and fix this week in training.

I may be a little bit busier than normal this week, but it is always very helpful to be able to go back, analyze and see why we didn't play well."

Sanjaxx Lions will next play Sanjaxx Lions on July 8 at Highland Park, Aurora.
