North Mississauga's Andi Montina (34') grabbed his fourth goal of the season and a third win for the Panthers as the visitors claimed a 1-0 win at the expense of Aurora FC.

A clean sheet for Roberto Carranza-Custodio capped the day for the Panthers and head coach Sam Medeiros was proud of the defensive solidity.

"The strategy that we used was the same as every other game, just go out there, play compact defensively and look to utilize our forwards whenever we can," he said.

"Nothing special there, and I think we did very well in the defending part - we were organized and I think it was one of our better games so far."

Aurora were on the back foot following the Molina goal, but the black and amber clad home side pressed the Panthers high up the pitch and came close on a number of occasions in a match that was characterized best by the full-blooded tackles.

"Our gameplan was just to press them a bit higher and take the game to them a bit more than we have been doing in recent games," said Aurora technical director, Dave DiPlacido.

"In recent games we have been sitting back a bit more and trying to catch the other teams on the counter. We thought today with the lineup we had and the players we had in there that we could go at them a bit."

"But yes, it was very scrappy," he added. "There were a lot of whistles and dead ball situations."

"I think we prefer to try and play, keep the game moving a bit and free-flowing, and I think it hurt us a bit having so many stoppages. Especially when down a goal, it killed any momentum we could generate."

Aurora FC will next play Pro Stars on June 30 at Avondale Stadium, Brampton.

North Mississauga Panthers will next play North Toronto Nitros on June 30 at Varsity Stadium, Toronto.
