Stephen Lamanna (11') and Le Rohne Young (90' + 1 pen.) scored at opposite ends of the game for Durham United FA on Matchweek Six, but their opposition North Toronto Nitros found three in the meantime from Mirza Custovic (32'), Kyle Laborde (49') and Harry Michelis (52') and ran out of the fixture as worthy 3-2 winners.

"Basically we just watched them and adjusted across the back, but I think the players were more confident going into the second half and we hit them on the break in transition and took advantage," said North Toronto team official, Gary Fleming.

"For once, we took our chances."

Mirza Custovic was particularly effective for the Nitros, setting up two goals and scoring one.

"That's what we are looking for from Mirza," said Fleming.

"I think he has been frustrated in the early part of the season but he's just got to listen to the coaches and play the game they want to play. He has been doing that, and today it started to pay off."

Durham head coach Sanford Carabin watched his side fatigue and get out-worked after a long week that was comprised of three tough matches.

"We had a great first twenty minutes, we should have been up 3-0," he said.

"We hit the bar, missed an open net, and scored one, but I think the team lost their legs mid-way through the first half and didn't get them back. We just didn't have the intensity of previous games. We usually outwork teams, but we just didn't have it on the day."

"I think what it came down to was that North Toronto came with a bit more intensity and we couldn't match it. All three goals were from losing the ball in our own half. North Toronto counter-press very quickly and our guys weren't prepared for that."

"No doubt it was the collective fatigue of three matches in a week," he confirmed.

"Not to take anything from the Nitros though. Their intensity in transition had a lot to do with the result, and they were just quicker than we were."

North Toronto Nitros will next play OSU Force on Sunday June 11 at Varsity Stadium, Toronto.

Durham United FA will next play Masters FA Saints on Friday June 9 at Kinsmen Park, Pickering.
