Vaughan Azzurri Women rode the stellar play of captain Nour Ghoneim (2', 14', 42'), Sydney Hoareau (22', 53', 75'), Colleen Beesley (65', 71'), Sarah Wong (10') and Claudia Piazza (79') in a 10-0 win over the visiting Kingston Clippers Women.

Right away the Azzurri controlled the match with short passes in the middle, and then in the second minute, got the first goal off a Sydney Hoareau run down the right flank and a low cross to Nour Ghoneim.

Sarah Wong would then give her side a quick two goal lead in the 10’ minute with a pass that was deflected off a Kingston defender and on to the foot of Wong, who would chip the keeper for a quick 2-0 lead.

The Azzurri then scored two more goals in the span of 12 minutes to give their side a 4-nil advantage over Kingston.

By the time the ref signaled for the second half to begin, Vaughan was up 5-0 and made wholesale changes to their lineup, hoping to give bench players match minutes.

Eight minutes into the half, Sydney Hoareau put her side up 6-0 and thus quickly putting away a sign of Kingston coming back into the match. Four more goals in the span of 13 minutes gave Vaughan a double digit lead and inches away from nabbing their sixth win of the season.

Vaughan coach Carmine Isacco thought his team showed their strength in that match, and might have looked tired before the final whistle was blown.

"We played well. We finished our opportunities early and I think mentally [we] were a little bit drained because we came out so quick."

"[We were] good on our finishing, good on our ball movement," said Isacco.

A key player for Vaughan was their captain Nour Ghoneim, who Isacco mentioned that it was good to see her get on the scoresheet after missing some matches this past month.

"It was nice that Nour scored some goals. She hasn't been consistent this year playing wise, she hasn't been playing as much. But it was good for her to get goals early and when they matter."

For Kingston coach Chris Eveleigh, he knew what to expect from his team going into the final stretch of the 2016 League1 Ontario women's season.

"At this time in the season it is a test of whose reserves are best, and I can't lie, are reserves aren't good enough," said Eveleigh.

Eveleigh did speak highly of Jackie Tessier and Riley Filion's play against Vaughan, saying that the two have been consistent performers all season and ones that can make a difference on any team they play on.

With the win, Vaughan now sits two points ahead of the North Mississauga Panthers in fourth, but have ruled themselves out of challenging for the 2016 League1 Ontario women's championship.
