Sigma FC striker Leaford Allen (14', 18', 23', 86') scored four and brought his league leading strike form to 17 goals in 16 matches as Sigma hammered fellow west division side Windsor 6-0 on Sunday.

Manvir Brar (56') and Olumide Soji Olatoye (60') added tallies for the Mississauga-based academy, with the clean sheet going to Triston Henry.

"It was a shift for us today because we are re-aligning the team with a lot of the players moving out and that's what we've had in the last week or so with the last few games," said Bobby Smyrniotis, head coach of Sigma FC.

"Today we had a lot of news faces and Soji was one of them. We got a young guy in there who has good energy and we know his abilities and he executed everything really well including confidence going forward."

Both teams were vetting new lineups, with Windsor in particular suffering some consequences of an amended match schedule.

"This was a rescheduled game and part of it was because we had to make some sacrifices for the All Star," said Windsor technical director, Vancho Cirovski. "So most of the kids who thought we had a weekend off made plans and so we were depleted for talent. That's obviously no excuse. It still could’ve been a better contest."

"Our kids played hard, but you could see that  our youth and Sigma's experience showed. We didn't create many chances to actually be dangerous. And then the strength of Sigma just showed. No excuses. It's just another one of those building blocks where you have to just learn from it."

Still, with this period of squad changeover a regular feature in the League1 Ontario season, both sets of technical staff were eager to analyze their new look and find positives.

"Well the experience [was the positive take away]," said Cirovski. "Six of our guys were born in 1999 and they played most of the game. Now they can recognize it and reflect on what it takes to really play at this level."

"The pace of the game is different. The physical nature of the game, so it's a learning lesson. Our guys recognize that you cant win very game, but this is for the long term. And we will take our lessons and learn from them."

"For the most part, most of the guys are gone and we lost a lot of our players early this year," said Smyrniotis. "Usually we will lose them later in August, but we suffered losses earlier this year."

"So we've been trying to find the right formula in the last week and all of these players born in 1999, such as Soji and Simon who started at CB, are guys who will be featuring going forward."

"It's a great way for them to get their feet wet as we get ready for London next week, which looks like a crucial game for  the Western Division title."
