Darby FC travelled to Hershey Centre, Mississauga on Saturday to face the North Miss Panthers, drawing their hosts 2-2.

"After being up 2-0 and being away it felt as though we lost two points today, and I would have been really happy to see the girls reward themselves for the hard work they put in to get three points away, especially over a team like North Miss," said Darby head coach, Mirco Schroff.

"Overall North Miss is a very good team and we know that, and obviously they were pushing for the equalizer to turn the game around."

First half goals from Darby's Milan Danford (32') and Selah Hopkins (25') were later cancelled out by second half goals from Panthers Michaela Krampert (63') and Cathryn Rogers (45').

"We had to make a lot of adjustments because of players going back to school, and one of our assets usually is that we have a quick striker," said North Miss technical director, Trevor Bertrand. "We didn't today, and they capitalized in the middle, but the wind was also a factor for both teams."

"They scored twice with the wind and we scored once. We made the adjustments and put in a third midfielder. I thought we had the better of the second half and I thought they had the better of the first half."

Heat was also a weather variable to be managed on the day, and Darby too the worst of its impact.

"I think overall we had to deal with the weather, just as they did as well, but our centre-back had to leave the game just before half-time due to a medical condition so it was a tough day for sure," said Schroff.

With the draw, Darby moved to five points in 11 matches played in their first League1 Ontario campaign. Schroff felt the team was starting to adjust to the rigors of play in the league.

"We've said all along that we need to have patience, we need to keep reinforcing the right things in a positive manner, and things will fall into place," said Schroff.

"It's the first season in League1 for all the players, and certainly that first shock experience of playing at this level has been passed now, so that's why I think that the more mature we get, the more composed we get, results will head in the right direction," he added.

On 14 points from 12 matches, North Miss sits mid-table and, now that several players have returned to post-secondary programs, will introduce some of its up-and-coming prospects to the league for the final month of play.

"Today we had two of the younger girls in the team, and obviously we are going to try and utilize them as much as we can," said Bertrand. "Some of them are going deeper into the Ontario Cup, but we have a feeder system within the club so I think it's opportunity now for the younger girls to get a chance to play."
