Canada junior international Emily Borgmann (43', 73') bagged two goals for the North Miss Panthers before teammate Jenny Wolever (71') added an insurance marker en route to a 3-0 defeat of FC London.

The North Miss clean sheet was earned by Tori Edgar.

"It was a very good win and we needed it," said North Miss head coach, Jhon Ardila.

"Actually we've been playing quite well the last three or four games, and with a Cup semi-final coming up this week - this result is very good for us."

After a relatively even first half, North Miss sprung into action in the second frame - both offensively and defensively - and London could not get back into the game.

"I think the second half was an outstanding performance from our girls, and against a very good London team," added Ardila. "There is a reason why they are in first place, they did a very good job despite the loss."

London head coach Mike Marcoccia was frustrated to come away without a win, especially as London is top of the division and had a dream start to the season with an unbeaten run of eight matches. However, the loss to North Miss marks the second loss in as many matches.

"Frustrating is the main word, obviously we didn't play as well as we had hoped to tonight," he said. "If you look at this evening compared to the season as a whole, I mean we went eight games without a loss and I guess that's surreal playing in a quality league like this and against top sides every night."

"If anybody thought we were going to sweep this league, they were crazy. This is a very good league, and I'm still very happy to be where we are," he added.

"I thought defensively they were very strong tonight, they played well and hats off to them. If you play like that in this league then you deserve to win."

Marcoccia was proud of his team's defensive display, despite the goals against, and explained how the technical staff goes about utilizing match video as an item of their mid-week preparation.

"Our back four did great tonight if you look at the amount of actions they had to do and the amount of times they were busy," he said, "They did well."

"We will go back and look at the goals, and when we do that we always start at the top and work our way back so it's never the back four or the keeper that are solely responsible."

"We'll go back and we'll analyze and I think they'll see why I'm happy with their performance tonight," he concluded.

The reigning L1 Cup champions, North Mississauga will look to build off the positive result on July 13 (8 p.m.) at Hershey Centre when they play Woodbridge Strikers in an L1 Cup semi-final.

FC London will play again on July 16 (4 p.m.) at Sheppard's Bush, Aurora against Aurora United FC.
