Stars and Sigma shared the spoils at McHugh Park in Windsor on Saturday, with Stars drawing the game late with a wonder goal from Stephen Ademolu.

Fresh from a loss the night before, in the first game of a doubleheader between the two clubs, the Windsor Stars had their chance to exact a little revenge. The home side started off strong, with Danny Dragoi finding Ademolu at the top of the box, and the midfielder turning quickly on his defender, firing a strong shot towards goal that just strayed just wide of the target.

Dragoi would soon have a chance of his own. The midfielder stepped up to take a free kick twenty yards out, but the shot arced just over the crossbar.

Sigma struggled to create much in the final third in the early stages, but the Stars were in full gear. In the thirty-second minute, Gino Berardi displayed great control as he dribbled at high-speed into space just outside the box, but his attempt didn't trouble the Sigma net minder.

Just as was the case the night before, Sigma once again left it late in a half to show reall attacking threat. Lucas Ferritto fired in a dangerous shot, but a late block by Stars defender Pat Lapera kept the game scoreless.

Stars had the first golden opportunity to score in the game, as Eric Cirovski played a wonderful cross into the six yard box, but Berardi, the recipient of the ball, struggled to muster any power to beat Sigma keeper Iacobellis.

Sigma would strike first, deep into first half stoppage time. A bizarre play developed late, when a ball was crossed to the far post, and though winger Markell Sadler managed to get a piece – he knew nothing about it; the ensuing shot deflected off the back of his skull, and lobbed over the stunned keeper.

This was not the first time the Stars would be behind to Sigma on the night. The difference this time would be that they have a whole half to respond. The response was swift.

Four minutes into the second half, the Stars were awarded a corner. Berardi played a beautiful ball into the box and Brydon Caesar rose majestically to head the ball neatly into the top right.

Sigma responded eight minutes later to reclaim the lead. The shot from Ferrito looked as though it had beaten the defence and the keeper, but bounced off the post until Stars defender Joshua Rogers inadvertently put the finishing touch as he attempted to clear it off the line. Upon consultation with the officials, the goal was credited to Ferrito.

The attack from the Stars intensified as they looked for the equalizer. Jamar Kelly started to venture forward, and displayed a great attacking prowess. In the sixty-eighth minute, the full back played a great ball across to Ademulo. Although the midfielder had the goal at his mercy, his shot bent away from the top right.

Sigma responded quickly with an attack of their own. Ferritto was at the end of a great cross, and the header was placed low, but veteran keeper Anthony Santilli demonstrated great reflexes as he dove to grab the ball.

Kelly once again had possession of the ball deep in the final third, and got off a strong shot that was travelling into the top corner before another top quality save by Iacobellis denied the Stars once more.

It was the veteran drive of Ademolu that proved to be decisive in the proceeding. The midfielder drove though the centre of the pitch, and rifled a canon of a shot that dipped over the keeper. The shot was top drawer and the game was tied.

Deep in stoppage time, Sigma almost snatched all three points. A header off a corner by Nolan Holdridge had great power behind it, but Stars keeper Santilli made a fantastic diving save to deny Sigma one last time before the final whistle.
