Kingston Clippers keep going up the table after an important 2-1 win over the visiting 2014 League1 Ontario champs, Toronto FC Academy. Striker Ryan McCurdy opened the scoring in the tenth minute, before captain Eric Koskins completed the pair of tallies in the 36th minute. Toronto's Kevin Timachy registered the lone strike for the Junior Reds with a penalty shortly after half.

Kingston head coach Christian Hoefler chose two MVPs:

"Ryan Mccurdy demonstrated tenacity throughout the match, and celebrated his birthday with the first goal of the battle by his magical left lace," said Hoefler. "Once Ryan scored the first goal of the match, you could see the belief in each Kingston player's performance."

"Eric Koskins, a Queen's University graduate and prolific goal scorer, led the team today by example with his consistent work rate and passion lifting the lads," added Hoefler. "Eric captained the side this afternoon and scored the second goal to secure the win for the blues of Kingston."

"We knew we needed to respect the opposition, but maintain our focus and execute decisions with vital quality. The Kingston players deserve all the credit for this win along with the support of our volunteers and fans at the match.

"I'm very happy with the overall performance today as we controlled large portions of the match but caused ourselves problems by our own mistakes," said Toronto FC head coach, Stuart Neely. "We continue to create chances, but lack the finishing touch. We must be patient with a very young group of players but also expect more of ourselves as we continue to develop."

Hoefler praised the obvious talent and ability in the Toronto FC team.

"TFC are extremely well coached by Stuart Neely and you could see the technical quality and organization each player possessed on their side. #24 [Reshon Phillip] was a continuous threat to our defenders and was impressive on and off the ball. This player displayed confidence and motivated his side to make the match an entertaining show."

"It was tough to break down at first, but eventually our spirit to win mixed with the trained strategy throughout the week guided us to the three points."

"Man of the Match for Kingston Clippers is #9, Ryan McCurdy, a centre forward and scorer of first goal. A strong centre forward on the day," said Neely. "Man of the Match for Toronto FC Academy is Robbie Boskovic. Had to handle the centre forward for Kingston, and dealt well with him given the size and movement."

"We will remain humble and hungry for more success," concluded Hoefler. "There is always some ground to cover and this week's session will ensure we are organized for the upcoming match in Windsor."

Kingston makes the long trek to Windsor in matchweek five, while TFCA hosts Pro Stars F.C. at Kia Training Centre in Downsview.
