Toronto FC Academy got their second League1 Ontario 2015 win in a row, downing Sanjaxx Lions on Saturday night 4-0.

"The turning point in the game was after the second goal because the team was not resilient enough mentally," said Sanjaxx head coach Laza Lowe. "We tried a new formation and the team had difficulty adjusting. We will continue to train it."

TFCA: RESHON PHILLIP

TFCA striker Malik Johnson opened the scoring in the 17th minute, before Sanjaxx quickly rebounded to create a tight contest for the remainder of the half.

"The team played well in a defensive perspective but struggled to maintain a high a tempo of play," said TFCA head coach, Stuart Neely. "The back line dealt well with the game as a whole and build up play was strong. However on the night the final pass and run in the attacking third was lacking."

TFCA: STUART NEELY

TFCA began to pull away from the Lions early in the second frame, with Cyrus Rollocks adding a second shortly after the interval (46') and Reshon Phillip (60') and Shaan Hundal (82') adding the insurance markers.

"I thought TFC's standout player was their #9, Maik Johnson," said Lowe. "While our MVP was Nicholas DeGrave."

SANJAXX: LAZA LOWE

"I thought Jacob O'Connor was the MVP for Sanjaxx," said Neely. "A CB with good organization and communication skills. He kept things together for his side. While for us it was Thomas Mickoski, who was a strong defender and passed well on the night."

The win for TFCA lift the Reds to ninth place, with only two points and a game or more in hand on Kingston and Durham above them. Sanjaxx remain in tenth place.

TFCA: MALICK JOHNSON

"There are always things you can focus on with a young squad and consistency is one of them," said Neely. "We must learn how to compete for longer periods within a match, and be more effective when in possession. Lots to take away from this match."

Toronto FC Academy play away to Master's FA Saints on Saturday June 13 at L'Amoreaux, 3 p.m. kickoff.

Sanjaxx return home on Sunday June 14 to meet Vaughan Azzurri at Esther Shiner Stadium, 9 p.m. kickoff.
