Vaughan's Mario Kovacevic (67') and Windsor's Michael Pio (71') registered a goal each to ensure both second place Vaughan Azzurri and seventh place Windsor Stars went home with a point in men's matchweek 13 action.

"We created opportunities but didn't finish," said Vaughan head coach, Carmine Isacco. "That as well as fluidity are what we need to reestablish, so the key moments were early in the game when we didn't convert on many opportunities."

VA: MARIO KOVACEVIC

"I think the big challenge was definitely the heat," said Windsor head coach, Shane Topalovic. "Both teams had to play on a very hot surface, which really had an effect on the pace of the game."

"The key moment was the second half water break, when we were able to get our breath and implement some tactics for the final fifteen minutes that led to us almost scoring a late goal."

The coaches selected MVPs from the spine of each team, highlighting everyone from goalkeeper to central forward.

WIND: KYLE VIZARAKIS

"Our outstanding player making his first start was Massimo Ferrin," said Isacco. "At 17 he was very complete in the middle of the field. For Windsor, [Stephen] Ademolou was very good and their centre-back, Jamar Kelly."

"Our MVP was GK, Kyle Vizarakis," said Topalovic. "He made one big save after another, his reactions were sharp, he was quick off his line, dominant in the box and in the air. He was very precise with his passing also."

"Their MVP was Mario Kovacevic, he added. "His strength and ability to hold the ball up and be a target for them was very difficult for us to handle. He also scored a very nice goal for them."

WIND: STEPHEN ADEMOLU

Both teams have difficult fixtures in the matchweek ahead, with second place Vaughan going to Sheridan College Stadium to play league leaders Oakville Blue Devils on Sunday August 2, 4 p.m.

Windsor travels to Kingston to meet the Clippers on Monday August 3 at John Machin Turf, Kingston - 2 p.m. kickoff.
