An incredible ten goal contest between Woodbridge Strikers and ANB Futbol in women's matchweek ten action resulted in the home side leaving victorious after a 7-3 scoreline.

Woodbridge spread out the scoring between five separate scorers, with Jessica Lisi (44', 57') and Vladanka Gurouski (20', 73') each claiming two, and Lisa Pecheresky (1'), Leticia Skeete (25'), and Alessia Mangoni (86') registering a single each.

"Naturally, in this game the outstanding players were our goal scoreres as we've had difficulties scoring, especially from multiple players," said head coach Joe Parolini. "However, anytime you get seven goals in one game, it's an accomplishment, especially since we got goals from five different players."

"The biggest challenge in the match, not only for WSC but also for ANB, was the extreme heat (about 34 degrees)," he added. "It was quite warm and difficult to breathe. Our challenge was also adjusting to our younger players blending in as we have graduated some of our players to Seattle, Germany, and D1 schools."

For ANB, Emily Tamburro (40' 50') scored two on the day, while Diana Esteireiro (30') finished a spectacular free kick.

"The ANB outstanding player was their captain, Cat Rodgers, who was always dangerous when she had the ball," said Parolini. "The other player was Esteireiro, who scored on a great free kick from just outside the area to the top corner."

"Emily Tamburro worked hard on the wing for us, creating chances for team-mates and scoring two goals," said ANB head coach, Marcelo Almeida. "Biggest challenge was training ANB's very young team to understand little mistakes can be costly at this level."

"The team featured some very young call-ups to help out in some positions due to injury to key players," he added. "We were proud of their performance, and experience gained in these games will prove fruitful in the future. It was great to see some very good possession from ANB, building on consecutive passes on numerous occasions."

Woodbridge gets back to the pitch on Sunday August 2 at 5 p.m. vs. North Mississauga Panthers at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge.

ANB returns to league action on Saturday August 8 at Country Day School, King City, vs. Durham United F.C. - 4 p.m. kickoff.
