North Mississauga Panthers fought the heat and any residual fatigue from the L1 Cup championship to go 3-1 over a well-organized ANB side during matchweek 12 action.

"Extreme heat was a factor in surviving," said North Mississauga assistant coach, Trevor Bertrand. "First half, both teams started slowly, however ANB capitalized on a rebound off a free kick and scored. We got one off a corner kick into the far corner. Soon after our Oshay Lawes broke in from the right side and buried the ball in the far corner."

"Challenge was to handle the heat and manage energy system for ninety minutes," said ANB head coach, Marcelo Almeida. "Additionally, the very young players needed to adapt to the pace of the game. I thought both were handled well and it is a continuous learning environment for the young ANB athletes."

"A key moment was the first fifteen minutes of the second half, when ANB came out flat and were under constant pressure allowing the third goal to be scored. However, we were very happy to see Trinity de la Mota score - perhaps the youngest player in the league to do so?"

Much like in last weekend's L1 Cup final, North Mississauga technical staff made some clever tactical switches to their front-line that paid dividends.

"Half-time we spoke of taking the game to them and modifying the middle by dropping a striker back," explained Bertrand. "This worked, and we kept the pressure on them. Satisfied with the victory as we look to elevate ourselves in the standings."

ANB returns to field of play on Saturday August 22 at Country Day School vs. Vaughan Azzurri - 4 p.m. kickoff.
