Laura Gosse (50') opened the scoring for away side and league leaders Durham United F.C. vs. Sanjaxx Lions in women's matchweek 13 action, while Hollie Babut (79', 87') closed it out for the visitors with a brace. Nora Abolins registered the clean sheet.

"Hollie Babut was our MVP," said Durham head coach, Tony LaFerrerra, "She scored two goals and had one assist. For Sanjaxx, their goalkeeper - Sarah Anisha Bradbury - made several outstanding saves, and saved a penalty."

Sanjaxx head coach, Laza Lowe, agreed with the Bradbury selection, but found another Durham player to award honours to as well.

"I thought our goalkeeper made a series of outstanding saves for us," said Lowe. "And Laura Gosse - the one who scored the first goal for Durham, was impressive. It was a tight game, but she was always able to get into scoring positions until she capitalized in the second half. It was 0-0 at the half and she capitalized first, and they went for the game from there."

Both teams are coping with the departure of university players, and the challenges of integrating their depth and players that will be relied upon to start the following season.

"We had six new players in the squad," said LaFerrerra. "It took a while to get them comfortable. But after we scored the first goal it seemed that everybody gained confidence."

"We have a lot of work to do… the result is not going to stop us from working hard in training and preparing for the 'second season.'"

"Our biggest challenge also continues to be that a number of players have gone back to university, and it is always challenging to compete with a younger set of players," confirmed Lowe. "However we always go back to the training ground with a positive state of mind and work to make it better."
